Creating A Buzz

Mark Batterson has got me thinking about "buzz". And the fact that he has me thinking about it proves he gets it! So, how does a church or a movement create a "buzz"? Here are my top four factors for creating a buzz:

1. "urban legend" creates the buzz
You need to have people wanting to talk about you. When it is cool to drop your name or mention your website or pretend to know something about you, you know you have buzz. Some of what people will say will be true and some will not. But when "urban legends" are being told about you - you know you got buzz!

2. cyber reality creates the buzz
Web. Blogging. Streaming video. Podcasting. Video Podcasting. Cool technology gives you credibility and creates a buzz! When your stuff in cyber space has created a reality that is better than who you really are - you know you got buzz!

3. first impressions creates the buzz
Those first sixty seconds. When people walk away thinking "I need to hangout with those guys" - you know you got the buzz!

4. experience creates the buzz
Experiences change people. When people bring others so their friends can experience what they experienced - you know you got he buzz!
