How THE BIG IDEA Works

I love The Big Idea and how it works for the whole family. On the bottom is the graphic we are using for Kid City as we challenge all our kids to start serving. On the top is the graphic we are using for our celebration service as we challenge all our adults to start serving. Here are a some of the benefits that we have experienced at CCC by using The Big Idea:

LEVERAGE THE FAMILY: Since the kids are also experiencing the same Big Idea as the adults it increases the chances of families having spiritual conversations. It also allows the parents to enter into that conversation with a greater level of confidence since they just spent an hour learning/experiencing something on the exact same topic. We have developed a family page that gives families activity and discussion ideas for leveraging the family.

ALIGNMENT: Lyle Schaller predicted that "there will be many churches that will have a two sites, almost none with three sites and a whole bunch more that will have four or more sites." When we asked him to explain he said the difference will have alot to do with alignment. Alignment is making sure that all of our energy is pointed in the same direction. There are some other things we do at CCC to make sure we have alignment ("the four ones" and Leadership Community), but the Big Idea brings the most alignment. And that alignment is what allows us to maximize our impact.

IMPACT: If all of our ministries (adults, students and kids) were all having different experiences and each of our seven locations were all having experiences than our church would be more like a shot gun. But since every ministry and every site experiences the same Big Idea it is more like a single bullet. With the shot gun you hit more area, but with a bullet there is a greater impact. I think with multiple ideas a church experiences the diffusion of energy, but with a single idea you maximize the impact.

new series: GET IN THE GAME

We are at half-time in our series "GET IN THE GAME". I am totally digging it. Nothing like a sports metaphor to give you a little added energy for the one of the most important topics in the world! Here are the four BIG IDEAS of the series: #1: The Draft, #2: Skills, #3: The Game Plan, #4: A Dynasty. Great stuff.
If you want to check out our "short film", you can click on this link and it will take you to the play page on the Community Christian Church website: www.communitychristian.org/play/playcurr.html
Jon did the first "short film" on The Draft - it is very good.
