Goodnight Nightline. So now what should I watch?
After 25 years, Ted Koppel said goodnight to Nightline for the last time tonight. For some reason I find it embarrassing to say, but I think Nightline is my favorite show on TV! Of course, I only watch a few: ABC-7 News, Nightline and Letterman if Koppel has a boring interview. (and of course any sporting event...does that count?)At the beginning of the Fall we did a series at CCC called "What Do you Tivo?" During this series we used some of the most popular shows on TV (Desperate Housewives, Extreme Makeover, The Apprentice, CSI) as platform to talk about culture and God's Word. Well the truth is I don't watch any of those shows! In fact Eric Bramlett had to get me a DVD that gave a summary of the past season so that I could sound like I know what I'm talking about. Eric tells me, "you don't need to watch these shows, cuz I do!" I really do value being culturally relevant, but I have not yet been able to bring myself to regularly watch any TV shows. But Nightline is different. Maybe it's because it follows the news and that is why I watch it. But I think there is more to it than that. I found Koppell over the years to be unafraid to ask the tough questions and to be a person with a strong moral influence. So, it's kind of a bummer, that he will not be on. I guess I will just have to switch over and watch more of Letterman - and he is having Oprah on December 1st...which will be interesting!
If you were recommending a TV show for me to watch...what is it and why?

I'm with you Dave. If sports don't count I can't bring myself to watch much tv. (If sports do count I probably need to check into a tv rehab center) The one show, however, is The Office. It takes Eric style sarcasm to a new level.
